I could not figure out why Christine was so adamant about visiting Parry Sound, which is 14 miles away from the channel of the Georgian bay. When we arrived, our first stop was the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame. Apparently, Bobby Orr changed the way hockey was played by being a great offensive force even though he was a defenseman. And in 1970, he was the major force behind winning the Stanley Cup for the Boston Bruins and that was the time Christine lived in Mass. Christine was a major fan of Bobby Orr since 1970, in fact, one of our first dates was seeing the Boston Bruins play the LA Kings in Los Angeles around 1975, of course to see Bobby Orr. Bobby Orr was born and raised in Parry Sound, and that is what a lot of the town is known for. So, most of this post is a tribute to Bobby and Christine. Pics 1 and 2 show the outside of the hall of fame, pic 3 verifies we are in his home town. Pic 4 is Christine standing next to a statue of Bobby after scoring the winning goal in 1970’s Stanley Cup playoff. Pic 5 is Christine playing slapshot. Finally, a couple pics of Parry Sound, which there is actually more to the town than the hall of fame.
Chris...the one & only time I attended a hockey game was in Minneapolis in 1975. Bobby Orr played that night & I have a hockey puck that he hit which sailed over the glass into the crowd that I caught. If I can find it, it's yours. Elaine
